Cooperation projects
Photovoltaic installation with the creation of a priority circuit for a public hospital
Mpongwe - Zambie - 2025
Contexte
The public hospital of Zambia receives around 70,000 patients each year for outpatient care or hospital treatments.
Zambia is going through an energy crisis. The country's electricity comes from hydroelectric facilities. The lack of rainfall in recent years has severely affected the nation’s power generation.
The public hospital of Mpongwe suffers from these power outages, leading to multiple deaths, particularly among premature infants.

Purpose of the project
- Creation of a priority circuit connected to a 50 kWh battery park to power this priority circuit in case of a power outage.
- Installation of a solar power system with a capacity of approximately 42 kW.
- Installation of a 6.5 kW solar power system to convert the existing water pump into a solar-powered pump.

Additional Work
- Construction of a new water tower to replace the old one.
- Renovation of the existing electrical system.
- Renovation of the hydraulic distribution system.

PV production and electrical consumption
Results
The savings achieved thanks to the PV installation make it possible to create a maintenance fund to sustain and improve the facilities.
The power supply of the equipment connected to the priority circuit is now stable and continuous, ensuring optimal patient care.
The conversion of the existing pump into a solar pumping system, along with the construction of a new water tower, guarantees the distribution and access to water for the entire Mpongwe public hospital.
