Capacity vs Discharge rate: Peukert parametrization

Before going further, one shall remind that in PVSyst the nominal capacity  is defined as the capacity of a battery that would be discharged in 10 hours (noted C10)

The correction of capacity according to the discharge rate is done through the peukert coefficient . There are 2 possibilities to do the correction, depending of if the rate of discharge is expressed in Amps or in Hours :

Discharge rate in Amps

Capacity(DischRateAmps) = CapNomC10 . (DischRateAmpsRef / DischRateAmps) ^ ( (1 - k) / k )

Discharge rate in Hours

Capacity(DischRateHours) = CapNomC10 . (DischRateHours / DischRateHoursRef) ^ (1 - k)

with :

CapNomC10 =

the nominal capacity, defined for the discharge time of 10 hours

DischRateAmpsRef =

the reference discharge rate, in [Amps]

DischRateHoursRef  =

the reference discharge rate, 10 [hours]

DischRateAmps =

the  discharge rate, in [Amps]

DischRateHours =

the  discharge rate,  in [Hours]
