Matching the variant

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

In order to be able to perform a simulation with a shading scene, you need to make sure that the orientations defined in the shading scene match the ones defined by the variant.

Here are the elements which must match :

number of orientations

tilt and azimuth values

active PV area

Also, each orientation defined in the variant must be linked to an electrical sub-array in the System part, or the simulation will not be possible.
You might get an error message explaining this in the shadings, but the only you will be able to fix it is in the System.

All the needed information to know if the scene matches the variant is available in the orientations management dialog, global information is given at the top and detailed information is given in the System match panel at the right.

Updating variant definition

Once you have built your scene, there may be some differences with what you defined first in the variant, for example if you defined fields following a ground slope.
There are many scenarios where this can happen and where you want to keep your definitions from shadings because you know they are correct.

You can update the variant orientations parameters by clicking on the following button in the System match panel : OrientUpdateVariant

It has the same function as the button which appears after you edited a scene.
