NEDO Solar Radiation Database

The NEDO Solar Radiation Database is a solar resource database developed by Japan New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

The team at Advanced Natural Energy (ANE) hosts an API that provides direct access to the NEDO database. This API is used by PVsyst to retrieve meteorological data to generate the MET file required to run a simulation.

The NEDO dataset is station-based, relying on data from a network of meteorological observation sites. For a user-defined location, the API returns data from the closest available station, together with information about that station, rather than interpolating values for the exact coordinates requested.

The NEDO statistical dataset used by the API is based on the 2010–2018 reference period, include several hundred locations across Japan, and is intended for photovoltaic system design and performance assessment.
