Longitudinal incidence angle

The profile plane is a plane that passes through a horizontal line perpendicular to a given azimuth and includes the sun.

The longitudinal incidence angle is the angle between the projection of the normal to the collector plane (or azimuth line) onto the profile plane and the sun's direction.

This angle has to be minimized in tracking systems with horizontal or tilted axis.
