Dome in 3D
In the 3D editor, domes consist of 2 identical tables in an array, with the same tilt angle and opposite azimuths. They correspond to one object in the 3D scene but have 2 different orientations.
Dome systems are increasingly common, typically with East/West azimuths (−90°/90°). However, the yield is nearly independent of orientation.
The usual dome systems are meant for covering the whole available ground area. Due to the fact that the tilt angle is low and the distance between the top and the bottom is large, the mutual shadings are extremely low.
However, be aware that dome installations are not suitable for bifacial systems: the irradiance reaching the ground is extremely low, and therefore the reflected bifacial gain is negligible.
