Transfer a license

When you activate your PVsyst copy, the license is paired with the computer hosting PVsyst. Therefore, you can not use this license on another computer at the same time.

However, there are cases when you want to move to another computer. PVsyst can be moved to another machine using a feature called license transfer.

Warning! The number of license transfers is limited to four over a period of 30 days starting the date of the first transfer.

How does a transfer work ?

A license transfer requires two steps:

  1. The license must be deactivated on the first computer.
  2. The license must be activated on the second computer.

How to transfer from computer A to computer B

  • Start PVsyst on computer A.
  • In main menu go to License
  • The license description appears, click on the Transfer button.
  • To avoid unwanted transfers you have to enter your Customer ID and click on the OK button.
    • Success: if deactivation went well you will see a success message, then you can close the transfer dialog. Computer A is now in demo mode.
    • Error: if deactivation failed you will see an error message. Contact us if the problem persists. If it is a communication error, see below.

Deactivation fails because of a communication error

PVsyst may be unable to connect to the license server due to an Internet configuration issue. In this case, PVsyst will ask you to perform deactivation manually using an external web browser.

  • Accept the notification about performing deactivation through an external web browser, this will deactivate PVsyst from the current computer and then show you a validation link. Computer A is now in demo mode.
  • Click on the validation link (it will open the default web browser), or copy-paste it to a web browser (it could be on another computer).
    • In the web browser, follow the instructions (basically all fields are already filled with correct values, you just have to validate the captcha).
    • Then click on Deactivate license.
    • Success: if deactivation validation went well you will see a success message.
    • Error: if deactivation validation failed you will see an error message, contact us.
  • Start PVsyst on computer B.
  • Follow the activation procedure using the same activation key (35 characters) you used to activate computer A.
