The Sun as a Source of Energy

The Sun is a source of energy for Earth, emitting electromagnetic radiation produced by nuclear fusion reactions in its core. Only a tiny fraction of this energy reaches our planet, but it nevertheless provides approximately 175,000 terawatts (TW) of power at any given moment. In a single hour, the amount of solar energy received by Earth is more than enough to cover the world’s annual energy consumption.
