License

Trial Period

PVsystBasic can be tested free of charge during a 30-day trial period. After this period, an active license will be required to use the software.

DEMO Mode

In DEMO mode, you can open existing projects (specifically DEMO projects) and run simulations, but you cannot save any files. You only have access to a limited set of components in the database.

Annual Subscription

Using PVsystBasic requires an active subscription. Subscriptions can be renewed three months before they expire.

Purchase PVsystBasic

A subscription can be purchased from the PVsyst online store.

To order licenses, you must create an account on our online store. If you are not yet a PVsyst customer, processing your first order by our sales team may take a few days. If you have already purchased licenses, payment by credit card will instantly renew your subscriptions or send you the new ones.

License Activation

After purchasing a license, you

must activate your copy of PVsystBasic.

There are two ways to do this:

  • Direct activation from within PVsystBasic (requires an Internet connection on the computer running PVsyst); this is a quick and simple method.
  • External activation performed from any PC with a web browser. This is useful if the computer running PVsystBasic does not have a working Internet connection.
  1. Start PVsystBasic.
  2. In the main menu, go to License
  3. A dialog box describing the license appears (PVsystBasic is in evaluation or demo mode if you have never performed an activation).
  4. In the License Activation and Synchronization section, enter the activation key (35 characters) you received after purchasing the license, then click the "Activate" button.

Success: If activation was successful, a confirmation message will appear; you can then close the activation window. The license rights are now displayed: PVsystBasic is successfully activated.

Error: If activation failed, an error message will appear. Make sure your Internet connection is properly configured and try again, or attempt external activation. Contact us if the problem persists.

External Activation

  1. Launch PVsystBasic
  2. In the main menu, go to License
  3. A description of the license appears (PVsystBasic is in evaluation or demo mode if you have never performed an activation).
  4. In the Manual Activation section, click the "Online activation" button to access the PVsystBasic activation page.
  5. On the activation page, enter the activation key (35 characters) that you received after purchasing the license.
  6. If it is not already pre-filled, copy the computer ID (Host ID) from the PVsystBasic dialog box and paste it into the PVsystBasic activation page.
  7. Validate the CAPTCHA and click the "Download license" button to download the license file (pvsystbasic.lic).
  8. Back in the PVsystBasic dialog box, click Load file and select the license file you just downloaded.

Success: If activation was successful, a confirmation message will appear; you can then close the activation window. The license details are now displayed: PVsystBasic is successfully activated.

Error: If activation failed, an error message will appear. Contact us if the problem persists.

License Synchronization

License synchronization may be necessary in the following cases:

  • You have requested a change to the license holder’s name
  • You have purchased a subscription extension for your license
  1. Start PVsystBasic.
  2. In the main menu, go to License
  3. The license description appears; the activation key field should already be filled in with your activation key.
  4. Click the "++Synchronize++" button.

Success: If the synchronization was successful, a confirmation message will appear; you can then close the dialog box. The license rights are now displayed with the most recent settings.

Error: If the synchronization failed, an error message will appear. Make sure your Internet connection is properly configured and try again, or attempt external synchronization. Contact us if the problem persists.

External Synchronization

  1. Launch PVsystBasic
  2. In the main menu, go to License
  3. The license description appears.
  4. In the Manual Activation section, click the "Online Activation" button to access the PVsystBasic activation page.
  5. On the activation page, enter the activation key (35 characters) that you received after purchasing the license.
  6. If it is not already pre-filled, copy the computer ID (Host ID) from the PVsystBasic dialog box and paste it into the PVsystBasic activation page.
  7. Validate the captcha and click the Download License button to download the license file (pvsystbasic.lic).
  8. Back in the PVsystBasic dialog box, click Load File and select the license file you just downloaded.

Success: If synchronization was successful, a confirmation message will appear; you can then close the synchronization window. The license rights are now displayed with the most recent settings.

Error: If synchronization failed, an error message will appear. Contact us if the problem persists.

License Transfer

When you activate your copy of PVsystBasic, the license is tied to the computer on which PVsystBasic is installed. Therefore, you cannot use this license simultaneously on another computer.

However, there may be instances where you wish to switch to a different machine.
It is possible to use PVsystBasic on another computer: this is called a license transfer.

Warning! The number of license transfers is limited to four over a 30-day period starting from the date of the first transfer.

How does a transfer work?

A license transfer requires two steps to be completed:

  1. The license must be deactivated on the first computer
  2. The license must be activated on the second computer

How to transfer from Computer A to Computer B

  • Launch PVsystBasic on Computer A.
  • In the main menu, go to License
  • The license description appears; click the Transfer button.
  • To prevent unwanted transfers, you must enter your CustomerID, then click the OK button.
    • Success: If deactivation was successful, a confirmation message will appear; you can then close the transfer window. Computer A is now in demo mode.
    • Error: If deactivation failed, an error message will appear. Contact us if the problem persists. If this is a communication error, see below.
  • Start PVsystBasic on Computer B.
  • Follow the activation procedure using the same activation key (35 characters) as the one used to activate Computer A.

Deactivation fails due to a communication error

PVsystBasic may be unable to connect to the license server due to an Internet configuration issue. In this case, PVsystBasic will prompt you to deactivate manually via an external web browser.

  • Accept the notification offering to deactivate via an external web browser; this will deactivate PVsystBasic on the current computer and then display a validation link. Computer A is now in demo mode.
  • Click the validation link (it will open your default web browser), or copy and paste it into a web browser (this can be done on another computer).
    • In the web browser, follow the instructions (in principle, all fields are already filled in with the correct values; you just need to validate the captcha).
    • Then click on Deactivate License.
    • Success: If the deactivation validation was successful, a confirmation message will appear.
    • Error: If the deactivation validation failed, an error message will appear; contact us.
  • Launch PVsystBasic on Computer B.
  • Follow the activation procedure using the same activation key (35 characters) as the one used to activate Computer A.
