Anonymous data collection

When installing PVsystBasic, you can choose to send anonymous usage data to PVsyst SA.

This data collection allows us, in particular, to detect and resolve malfunctions more quickly, adapt our tools to real-world usage, and optimize their performance based on observed system configurations and usage patterns.

Data That May Be Collected

In this context, PVsyst, PVsystCLI, and PVsystBasic may collect the following information:

  • The occurrence of exceptions or errors while using the software
  • The version of the software used
  • The operating system and screen resolution
  • The language selected in the software
  • The duration of software use
  • General data related to the simulations performed, such as:
    • The type of project (grid-connected, off-grid, pumped storage),
    • The duration of the simulations,
    • The activated features (horizon, module layout, subfields, orientations, etc.),
    • The system power and the components used
  • Hardware information (number and resolution of screens, operating system version, amount of RAM, etc.)

Data Excluded from Collection

None of the following information is collected:

  • Sensitive or confidential data related to your projects, including:
    • Project names,
    • Customer information,
    • Precise location,
    • Economic data,
    • Simulation results and reports
  • Any personal, sensitive, or identifiable information, such as:
    • Your username,
    • Your IP address,
    • Any other data that could identify you directly or indirectly

Data Security and Transfer

Data is transmitted from the software to our servers via a secure protocol, ensuring its confidentiality and integrity. Please note that data transfer may incur additional costs depending on the type of Internet connection used by your computer.

You can enable or disable this option at any time via the “Data Collection” tab in the preferences.
